William is 2 weeks old

I’m finding it quite hard to get my head around the fact that you are already two weeks old today. I know it’s a cliché but time is passing by quicker than I can explain. Having you here though is wonderful and it feels as though you’ve always been a part of our little family.

They tell you every baby is different and that couldn’t be more true for you and your sister. Maybe a part of that is to do with us having to share our time between you both this time around but you certainly have different needs and quirks. We are yet to establish anything resembling a routine and we really are just winging it this time!

You’re the hungriest baby I’ve ever come across, demanding feeds every two / three hours and polishing off every single bottle. You go from chilled out asleep to awake and desperately hungry in the split of a second and often the only way we can keep you calm while we get your bottle ready is to lay you next to the tumble dryer or play kettle noise to you.

You’ve become quite the Velcro baby during the day which has lead to me digging out the baby sling and wearing you for most of the afternoon each day. I love carrying you around snuggled up on my chest and you seem to be so content while there. The sling has come in really handy too as we still need to buy the adapter bit for the pushchair and so if ever we need to pop out I just bundle you up all warm on my front.

You’re still quite nocturnal and spend much of the night awake and avoiding sleep. While it’s utterly exhausting, I do love the time we get just us two during night feeds.

Mama is still not feeling 100% and is having a few really hard days physically after birth so we have mostly stayed home with the occasional trip to the park to keep your big sister busy and get us all some fresh air. I’m hoping we might get out and about a bit more this weekend as your Daddy is off work for a few days and it’ll make getting out with you both a lot easier.

We did however make it to Grandma & Grandads house last weekend to celebrate Grandads 60th Birthday. As expected you were spoiled with cuddles from your grandparents and aunties and uncles.

We also managed to squeeze in a quick visit to Aunty Issie & Uncle Charlie’s.

We’ve had home visits from both the midwife and the health visitor (who was really lovely) this week. You’re back up to your birth weight and everyone seems really happy with how you’re doing. Plus, your jaundice has gone too so all of the chilling by the window has paid off.

Your sister continues to fall more and more in love with you each day, as all of us do. She wants to be with you ALL OF THE TIME, and panics the moment she can’t see you. You get covered in kisses at every chance you get and she really is the proudest big sister. I’m not sure you’re entirely enamoured by her just yet but she’s a wonderful whirlwind and I’ve no doubt that as you grow you’ll come to adore her as much as she does you.

Well, little boy, you’ve fallen sound asleep on my chest as I’ve typed this, and your sister is sleeping too so I’m going to try and sneak in a quick cat nap before you both wake up. Love you Mr William. More than you could ever know.
