I wrote last week about how we’ve reduced our food bill by over 50% and since I’ve had a few requests for an example of our meal plans. Meal planning has really helped us cut the amount we spend on food over the last few months and also means we no longer have that annoying conversation about what we fancy for tea each evening! One of the things I will say is that it’s essential to have a good stock of the basics – herbs, spices, cereal, milk, pasta etc – in the cupboards so you can always grab
Monday: Sausages, mashed potatoes, brocolli & carrots with gravy.
Tuesday: Beef burgers in tiger rolls, homemade mini potato wedges & baked beans.
Wednesday: Chicken Tikka Masala*, long grain rice & brocolli
Thursday: Breaded chicken breasts, mashed potatoes & baked beans
Friday: Spaghetti Bolognese* with garlic bread
Saturday: Couscous stuffed red peppers, chicken breast & salad
Sunday: Birthday Burgers
I am thinking of doing a couple of recipe posts for easy weekday & freezer meals – if you’d like to see any of the above meals in a recipe, let me know.
