40 Weeks Pregnant

40 Weeks Pregnant

Well, we made it! Here I am, bump and all at 40 weeks and 2 days and honestly? I am a little bit shocked we’ve gone over due! I’ve been having so many false starts and cramps and all sorts for a couple of weeks now so we were all geared up to have already met her by now. Even Sean is getting impatient!

The last week or so has been filled with plenty of long walks, birthing ball bouncing and we may have even snuck in a cheeky curry in there at the weekend, but despite our efforts and all the twinges that followed baby is still nicely tucked up in my tummy wriggling around. It’s obviously far too comfortable in there! Today I’m heading to see the midwife for my 40 week appointment and she’s going to give me a membrane stretch and sweep to see if we can’t get things moving a bit more. I’ve heard mixed things about sweeps and their success rate but fingers crossed we’re lucky.

Despite hoping she may have already made her appearance by now, this little extra time we’40 weeks pregnant 3

40 weeks pregnantve had has given me and Sean the opportunity to squeeze in some really good quality time with eachother. He had the long weekend off over the bank holiday and we pretty much just spent the days laughing and chatting and being us without the worry of work or a never ending to do list.

I’ve got to the stage now where I have around four outfits that fit as I just seem to be getting bigger by the minute and I’ve outgrown all of my shoes. It seems I am retaining quite a lot of water as I am a bit of a swollen mess this last week! To cheer myself up a little and get myself prepared for summer, I’ve hit Primark & Boohoo quite hard to create a wardrobe perfect for those first few months post baby bump. I am fully aware that it is going to take some time for me to slim down again after baby arrives and so I’ve bought mainly size 14 and a couple of size 12 bits to ease myself back in. At the end of the day, comfort is key and there are enough pressures on new mums without having the added worry of not having anything to wear! I will maybe do a little haul / try on video of all of the bits I’ve bought once baby arrives – if you’d like to see, let me know in the comments below!

Other than ballooning and all the false starts I think I’m actually doing quite well at this end of pregnancy lark. Acid reflux has made a bit of a return but I’m almost used to that now and emotionally, I feel so much better after a week or so of getting out of the house every day and seeing friends & family.

We’ve bought the final bits on our list for baby now including two more GroSnugs which I will tell you all about in the next few weeks, an Angel Care baby monitor and the last touches to the nursery are set to arrive in the next couple of days. I’ve also been swatting up on what to expect when baby arrives with the help of a couple of books & watching some of my favourite YouTubers who’ve shared their early days with their little ones. As for baby, she’s still just getting fatter. She’s head down and engaged and ready so we’re all just waiting for nature to take its course! Eeeek! How exciting. Perhaps this time next week, I’ll be updating you on our first days with our daughter…
