We’ve been practicing grasping with Florence recently and I’ve made some rainbow ribbon rings to incorporate into our play. They’re great for little hands and offer plenty of opportunities for clasping! Baby can grab the wooden ring itself or one of the ribbons.
It really is SO easy and you only need two things.
Ribbon in four different colours (We used 2 organza ribbons & 2 silk ribbons for a more varied sensory experience)
Step One: Cut your ribbons into 25cm lengths making sure you cut the ends at an angle to prevent fraying.
Step Two: Tie each length around the ring at the centre and double knot.
That’s it. Two steps. If you wanted to, you could glue the ribbons in place with a hot glue gun but it’s not essential.
Next time I make them I might add some jingle bells to them too!
